Our 600-hour Teacher Training Program reviews all aspects of our Cosmetology program (hair cutting, styling, coloring, barbering, nail technology, skin care, makeup and more) as well as providing specialized teaching training at our modern, technology-enabled facility in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. There you’ll be able to gain real-world experience working in our active beauty clinic with real customers, as well as practicing teaching methods with fellow students.
Beyond brushing up on your beauty skills, you will receive expert instruction in teaching including organization, leading discussions, cooperative learning, interactive lectures, one-on-one instruction, test prep and procedures, and more. Additionally, you’ll benefit from our supplemental Shear Success Business Fundamentals program, which teaches you valuable skills like building a book of business, networking, marketing and client management.
To qualify for a license as a cosmetology instructor in NJ, you must already have a cosmetology license, have worked as a cosmetologist/hair stylist or related profession for at least 6 months, and have graduated from the teacher training program in good standing, completing the full 600 hours of training. Additionally, you’ll need to take an additional 30 hours of college-level education classes (not included) and pass both a written and practical licensing exam. Our teacher training program includes the state board’s recommendations to ensure you are well prepared to earn your license and begin an exciting teaching career.
Cosmetology teaching professionals is a thriving profession.
